The next edition of the BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals will head to the Danish city of Horsens.
It is just the second time that Denmark will stage the BWF World Men’s and Women’s Team Championships following Aarhus in 2021. In Aarhus, Indonesia won the Thomas Cup after 19 years while China recaptured the Uber Cup from Japan, who won it in Bangkok in 2018.
Lying on the east coast of the Jutland region, approximately 200km from the capital Copenhagen, Horsens is the seventh largest city in Denmark and is known for its cultural and entertainment events. In recent years, it has played host to the concerts of some major international musical acts. Horsens is also the hometown of mixed doubles star Alexandra Boje.
BWF President Poul-Erik Høyer praised Badminton Denmark and the City of Horsens for their bid.
“Horsens is renowned for its cultural and entertainment events, and we are excited to be bringing the prestigious BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2026 to the badminton-loving local community,” said Høyer.
“Badminton Denmark has a long tradition of staging world-class badminton championships and we have full confidence that they along with the City of Horsens will deliver a tournament to remember.”
The hosting rights were confirmed at the BWF Council meeting on 28 April in Chengdu, China.
